Full-Day Tour: Iquitos City Highlights
We will start this interesting tour at 7:00 AM. Our guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Belén Market, where you'll see a great variety of products unique to the Amazon. Within this market, we'll find a small section called Pasaje Paquito, also known as "The Pharmacy of the Jungle," as it is home to natural remedies and medicines made from various plant species and, in some cases, from animals. You can also sample and learn about a variety of local aphrodisiac drinks. This is a must-see location!
After concluding our market visit, we will head to the Casa Morey, a building dating back to the rubber boom era, which today serves as one of the city's main hotels. Following this, we will take a short tour inside the Ayapúa, one of the first boats to navigate the Amazon River.
Historic Center and Cultural Immersion
Once our visit there is complete, we'll walk to the Plaza de Armas, where our guide will provide a historical summary of the city of Iquitos. They will explain the significance of the Iglesia Matriz (Main Church), the Casa de Fierro (Iron House), the Ex-Hotel Palace, and all the other emblematic buildings of the Isla Bonita.
One location we cannot miss is the Museum of Indigenous Cultures of the Amazon. The guide will lead us on a brief tour inside this fascinating venue, which treasures a great part of the cultural richness of the Indigenous peoples of the Peruvian jungle.
We will have lunch at a central city restaurant before heading to the Amazonian Rescue Center (CREA).
Wildlife Rescue and Zoo
The Amazonian Rescue Center (CREA) is one of the most important conservation projects in our city. We will meet the main species that have been rescued to date. Crucially, we will learn how this incredible project began and how important it is to raise awareness among Amazonian residents about the protection and conservation of our wild flora and fauna.
The City Zoo will be our last point of visit for the day, which we will go to after our tour inside the rescue center. Inside the Zoo, we can appreciate and learn about the great variety of animals native to the Neotropics, some of which are endemic to the Peruvian jungle.
This expansive location features a beautiful lagoon with a tempting artificial beach where we can take a swim and relax until sunset.
We will return to the city as the sun sets.
*IMPORTANT: Zipline usage is included.
